Sunday, March 24 - Palm Sunday in Ortygia

Palm Sunday began with Mass at the Cathedral

The Bishop giving a Benediction

Oh, my gosh!!  The Bishop is an Archbishop!!
Sundays in Italy always include strolls on the streets, greeting people, playing with the family and games.

Outside the Duomo, after Mass

The Passeggiata along Lungomare di Levante

This plaque explains that in 1885 the above walkway was created for the citizens of the city in recognition of their efforts and sacrifices during the unification of Italy in 1860.

The objective is to put the water ball in the net.  Fun and exciting to watch.

The figures in the skirt are puppets mimicking Saracens - you'll see them later in Taormina.

What a fun way to end the day.  It's good the stores are closed!!
