Today, we walked the city, absorbing its' atmosphere and shopped Il Ballarò for a picnic lunch to take on tomorrow's trip to Agrigento.

From our kitchen window we see cats on a rooftop waiting for a neighbor's generosity. |

A remnant of the past. |

A main street close to our apartment and in front of Il Ballarò. |
Via Roma - the equivalent of 5th Avenue in NYC was 1 block away.
|
Porta Felici guards the entrance to the Kalsa Quarter. It was constructed a short distance from the Bay of Palermo and is near Via Butera & the Puppet Theater. Just imagine the old Arabic city walls extending out from the sides of this gate and surrounding the city. |

Botanical gardens. |
|
Open air antique market |
|
Near Via Butera and the fisherman with the Ricci di Mare.
Our apartment is located in a side street between the two large buildings on the right. Il Ballarò is beyond the arch at the end of the street. A food shopper's dream. It is like living 2 blocks from Pike Place Market in Seattle!!
We ALWAYS found a good pasticerria!!
The manual way of laying asphalt. |
